Uzbekistan-based GULI to present at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week for the second time.
Uzbekistan designer Gulnara Karimova will present GULI Spring/Summer 2012 collection at The Studio venue inside the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York.
On Thursday, September 15, 2011, for the second time in New York, designer Gulnara Karimova will present GULI Spring/Summer 2012 collection inside The Studio venue at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. The collection was inspired by the special co-existence of the old ethnic traditions and modern Uzbek culture.
GULI Spring/Summer 2012 collection will feature thirty looks in natural silk, organic cotton, leather embellishments, rare Uzbek fabrics such as shoi, and intricate ikat prints – all updated with contemporary shapes and cuts. Modern methods like laser cutting are artistically paired with centuries old customs like hand-made gold embroidery. Artisanal accessories, which have previously been only part of the national costume, are re-imagined by GULI to take the form of contemporary style accents. The highlight of the collection will be a one-of-a-kind wedding dress.
Gulnara Karimova of GULI is the only designer of Central Asian origin to ever show a fashion collection at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York.
GULI Spring/Summer 2012 collection show will be held at The Studio - Mercedes Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center on Thursday, September 15th at 12:00PM.
